A research laptop can be borrowed from SOLO. This laptop can be used for data collection only, not for data analysis or experiment building purposes.

E-Prime

Accessing the license
E-Prime needs an active license for E-Studio to work. If you are connected to the University's network, this should not be a problem; you are then automatically connected to the University's license server. You connect to the University's network via EduVPN.

You can use the runtime file of your experiment to conduct your research in the field. For this runtime file, you do not need a license and therefore no network connection to the University. You can recognize this runtime file by the extension .ebs3.

Timing on a laptop

Running your E-Prime task on a laptop may result in suboptimal timing as compared to running your task on a desktop PC. If you want to run a timing critical task on a laptop, please consult with labsupport at labsupport@fsw.leidenuniv.nl.

Using two screens

Note that it is not possible to run a task on a laptop with two screens in duplicate mode. For E-Prime to run on two screens in duplicate mode an external video card is required, which can be installed in the desktop lab PCs, but which is not available on the SOLO laptops. Running a task with two screens in extended mode is not a problem.
